The Opus - Is it The Secret II?
Many of the readers of this site will already have seen the movie The Secret. Yesterday I watched a follow up movie released in 2008 - Douglas Vermeeren’s The Opus. I loved it so I thought I would share with you what the movie is about.
Although many of the people that were in The Secret are in The Opus movie as well and although the movie is made in a similar style, it is quite different. Neither of the movies is better than the other, each one is great in its own way. I think that The Opus is going to be more acceptable by people who don’t believe in new age so much, because it is more direct, down to earth and not that mysterious, while still showing you how to turn your intentions into accomplishments.
The movie shows significance of emotions accompanying any intention you have. It stresses that if what you want to achieve comes from your heart, you have a better chance achieving it. You have a much better chance in succeeding in what YOU really want to do, rather than what others want you to do or what others expect you to do. When love powers your thoughts and intentions, you are much more likely to succeed.
Some people may have misunderstood The Secret by thinking that only by shifting your thinking towards positive thinking will attract more of the positive and that you will live in abundance by doing just that. The Opus signifies the importance of action. The message is quite strait-forward - keep on visualizing and think positively, but also act. Sitting on the couch will not get you anywhere. Don’t be afraid to get started on what you want. Don’t wait for the situation for your start to be perfect. Just get started. Don’t be afraid of failure, you learn by failing, every failure makes you stronger. The top achievers are not perfectionists, they are just very good at improvising. Just do the first step that is necessary to achieve what you want to achieve.
The movie motivates you to create an incredible “Opus”. You will find what it is by watching it.

I also found first few minutes of the movie on youtube:

I found this on Wikipedia and thought you might find it interesting. It appears the Opus was created or being created before The Secret but the Secret made it to market first. As I have spoken with people involved in the OPus creation I guess this is pretty common knowledge. I did not know this.
The Movies
The Secret came out on DVD in 2006 and came into mainstream in 2007. The Opus was released in 2008 but had been in pre-production since 2005. Most people feel that had The Opus beat The Secret to marketplace the story of success may have been quite different. While both movies feature several of the same speakers and similar messages, the presentation is very different. The camps are not severely divided between the two films however, as they both offer a very different presentation.
Rhonda Byrne has never made an official statement on which film came first and neither has Douglas Vermeeren the producer of The Opus. Both films claim to stand independent one from another, although most people consider the Opus the Secret’s sequel. (How intriguing it is to consider that it may actually be chronologically the other way around.)
The Books
The secret book was released in many markets at the conclusion of 2006, but saw most of it’s success in 2007. The book based on The Opus is yet to be released. Some reports have suggested The Opus book will be coming out through Random house in early 2010.
I just saw the trailer for the film “How Thoughts Become Things” and I have to say WOW! This is awesome! If the movie is anything like the commercial we are in for a huge treat. The trailer can be seen at http://www.HowThoughtsBecomeThings.com This film is also from the creator of The Opus.
